Purpose:

To help disseminate awareness and generate quality discourse about legal issues which are of importance to the public at large.

Target Audience:

College students, young lawyers

The symposium began with the launch of a book titled India Against All Odds by Sh. Kewal Krishan Verma, which tries to discuss legal issues in a social context. This was followed by opening remarks on the subject made by Sh. Purushottam Reddy, who is a senior advocate and the Chairperson of the Andhra Pradesh Human Rights Commission. Following this, Dr. Swamy began his lecture, which was expectedly illuminating and delivered with remarkable clarity. He discussed the context in which the current Act was drafted, and the problems involved with it, keeping in view the societal background. The programme continued with a short question answer session. In the end, there was a short summing up by Sh. Sunil Vashisht, a prominent social worker, and a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Chitra, Founder-President of the Rit Foundation.
